15.09.2013 - 2013 EC: World champions Russia fly to 18th European title

Berlin, Germany, September 14, 2013. In front of 8’513 electrified fans in the sold out Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, 2010 world champion Russia sailed to their 18th gold medal in history of European Volleyball, defeating host Germany 3:1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14). Most Valuable Player Tatiana Kosheleva (19 points) and Russian opposite Nataliya Obmochaeva (28 points) were the main protagonists of Saturday’s gold medal clash.  more


14.09.2013 - 2013 EC: Belgian heroines claim historical bronze medal at EuroVolley 2013

Berlin, Germany, September 14, 2013. 7.453 excited fans in Berlin’s Max-Schmeling- Halle saw Belgium claiming the bronze medal at 2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Women. The squad of head coach Gert Vande Broek overpowered Serbia in a marathon thriller 3:2 (23-25, 25-21, 28-26, 21-25, 15-11) to write history for World No. 39 Belgium. Best scorer of the breath-taking duel was exceptional Belgian opposite Lise Van Hecke with a total of 35 points.  more


14.09.2013 - 2013 EC: Europe’s Volleyball family overwhelmed with pride at hosting IOC President

Berlin, Germany, September 14, 2013. Among some 7,000 fans who yesterday accompanied the home heroines of Germany on their way to come back from two sets down to make it to the gold medal match with Russia there was one, very illustrious guest. Only a few days after his election this past Tuesday in Buenos Aires, Dr. Thomas Bach chose Berlin and the Women’s EuroVolley to make his first appearance as President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  more

Berlin, Germany, September 14, 2013. Less than two hours left before the start of the much-awaited medal duels of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Women. At 17.00 (local time), titleholder Serbia will challenge the ‘yellow tigers’ from Belgium who played an outstanding tournament so far. At 20.00 (local time), host Germany take on 2010 world champions Russia. Since several days, Berlin’s Max-Schmeling-Halle is sold out for today’s final duels.  more

Berlin, Germany, September 13, 2013. In front of 7.137 delighted fans in Berlin’s Max-Schmeling-Halle, Germany proved too strong for Belgium to book their hard-earned ticket for Saturday’s gold medal duel versus Russia. Two sets down, the German ladies made an outstanding comeback in Friday’s semi-final of EuroVolley 2013 to bounce a whole nation in heaven. It was a revival of the 2013 Volleyball European League final where Germany had won 3:2 as well.   more


13.09.2013 - Berlin: Outstanding Russia sweep Serbia 3:0 in first semi-final of EuroVolley 2013

Berlin, Germany, September 13, 2013. It was a 70-minutes Russian demonstration of power in Friday’s first semi-final when the team of head coach Yuriy Marichev swept titleholder Serbia in straight sets (25-23, 25-19, and 25-12). The Russian team controlled their opponents in all aspects of the match, sailing to an undisputed 3:0 triumph. Serbia committed 19 mistakes compared to only eight on the Russian side.  more

13.09.2013 - Berlin: IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach to attend EuroVolley semi-final match

Berlin, Germany, September 13, 2013. Dr. Thomas Bach – who this past Tuesday was elected as IOC President at the 125th session of the International Olympic Committee in Buenos Aires, Argentina – is set to attend today’s semi-final match starring Germany and Belgium at Max-Schmeling-Halle. This is the very first time the IOC President pays a visit to the CEV Volleyball European Championship and this is even more special for Dr. Bach will be enjoying this opportunity in his native country, Germany.  more
